APPROPRIATIONS BILL |Possibilities

Youngstown State University would get a $2 million grant to create a Center for Renewable Energy Systems under a federal Energy and Water Appropriations Bill approved by the House subcommittee. Other regional projects that would be funded in the bill are:

$550,000 for infrastructure improvements for the Wick District-Smoky Hollow Development.

$1.5 million for a University of Akron Fuel Cell for Clean Coal Power Plants project.

$1 million for an Adaptive Liquid Crystal Display by AlphaMicron Inc. of Kent to create a film that can be used for commercial and residential windows.

$700,000 for the Campbell Brownfield Revitalization Program to help implement a development strategy to reclaim and develop a 1,470-acre industrial brownfield site.

$675,000 for a Little Squaw Creek interceptor sewer project along state Route 193 in southern Vienna Township.

$1.6 million for Streetsboro trunk sewer improvements.
