South Side man gets prison term for 2007 shooting

YOUNGSTOWN — A man who admitted shooting another man in the right cheek and critically injuring him on the city’s South Side last spring has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court imposed the sentence today on Lance C. Cain, 18, of West Judson Avenue.

Cain, who was 17 at the time of the shooting and bound over from juvenile court for adult proceedings, earlier had pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery with a gun specification and felonious assault.

The victim, Richard Dunn, 28, of Campbell, told police he was shot at 2:30 a.m. June 5, 2007, by a man who entered his van on Hilton Avenue and asked for marijuana, which the victim didn’t have.
