Sept. 11 memorial to be constructed in Pa.
SHANKSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A piece of steel that was once part of the World Trade Center will soon stand in rural Pennsylvania just miles from where Flight 93 came crashing down on Sept. 11, 2001.
New York and Shanksville firefighters poured the concrete base Monday where a 14-foot-high, 3,000-pound steel monument will soon stand.
The monument will be shaped like a cross and sit on a pentagon-shaped base near the Shanksville fire station.
