Run/walk event to benefit hospice, visiting nurses

ALLIANCE — Alliance Community Hospital Foundation is sponsoring its 2008 Steppin’ Out for Hospice 5K Run/Walk and One-Mile Kids’ Fun Run at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 on the hospital grounds.

Proceeds will benefit the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice.

Finisher medals, prizes and food will be featured.

Champagne luncheon is set at senior center

EAST LIVERPOOL —The public is invited to a champagne luncheon fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 20 sponsored by the Catholic Charities Regional Agency’s Senior Center, 600 E. Fourth St.

The menu includes chicken, ham, roasted potatoes, rigatoni and meatballs, green beans, salad bar, homemade desserts, iced tea, coffee and champagne punch.

The cost of the luncheon is $15, and reservations are preferred.

Money raised will help fund activities and home-delivered meals provided by the center.

The senior center provides socializing opportunities, and a nutritious lunch is offered for a nominal fee. Home deliveries are available for those unable to attend.

Benefit concert planned for cancer patient

POLAND — A benefit concert at 5 p.m. Aug. 17 at Holy Family Parish, 2729 Center Road, is being sponsored to assist Mark Morocco Jr., who is battling cancer.

The concert will feature sacred and classical music, and all the performers are local and sponsored by Music Lessons For Us All.
