The day will feature roasted corn and hot dogs.

NORTH LIMA — Area groups, businesses, churches and organizations will have a chance to set up displays and distribute information at Beaver Township’s annual Corn Roast and Reunion at Woodworth Park.

The event, in its sixth year, will be Aug. 9 at the park, which is on Luther Avenue, off East Western Reserve Road between Market Street and Southern Blvd. Hours are 4 to 8 p.m. The township park board will provide tables and tents to participating groups at no charge.

The corn roast and reunion allows township residents, officials and groups to gather and spend time together in an informal, social atmosphere, explained Scott Conway, township park administrator.

The day will feature food, including roasted corn and hot dogs as long as they last, refreshments, music, a clown and other activities. Admission is free.

“It’s just a nice time, a nice get-together where everyone can relax, enjoy the food, music and activities and spend time with their neighbors and community leaders,” Conway said.

He noted that, in recent years, the event has attracted several hundred people. The day will start with an interdenominational church service conducted by representatives from churches located in the township.

Although the corn roast is for township residents and groups, the public is invited to a concert by the band Following June, featuring a variety of music, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There is no charge to attend the concert.

Because seating is limited, attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Also that day, the township will be conducting a canned-food drive to help the community.
