Special prayer assembly

YOUNGSTOWN — The City Prayer Team will present a special prayer assembly from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St. “Midnight on the Rooftop” is the theme of the prayer and worship service. The Rev. Stephen T. Sparling is pastor.

Serbian picnic

YOUNGSTOWN — Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., will have its 76th annual Serbian Day picnic beginning with the Divine Liturgy conducted by the Very Rev. S. John Rajlich and responses sung by Holy Trinity Choir. After the service, the picnic will feature traditional foods and musical entertainment on church grounds and in the social hall. Admission is $3.

Quartet at church

ELLSWORTH — The quartet, God’s Quad, performs Wednesday at Ellsworth Presbyterian Church, 11171 Akron Canfield Road. A free will offering will be taken. A fundraiser will be at 6 p.m. and offer hot dogs, hamburgers and sloppy joes. Proceeds will benefit the contemporary worship service. The concert will be at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary followed by a free ice cream social in fellowship hall.

Church to host concert

YOUNGSTOWN — Singer Cleiry Cruz from New York, a former member of the singing group Chicas Del Clan, will be in concert at 6 p.m. today at 1408 Rigby St. The community event is sponsored by Spanish Evangelical Church, 2530 South Ave. She also will perform at the church at 1 p.m. Sunday. Youths’ achievements

YOUNGSTOWN — Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Parkcliffe Ave., will honor the academic and athletic achievements of area youth at its annual Family and Friends Day at the 10:45 a.m. worship Sunday. Special presentations will be given by W. Ronald and Lynette Miller, founders of Harambee Youth programs.

Guest speaker

EAST PALESTINE — Phil Bartholomew is the guest speaker at the worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at First United Presbyterian Church, 109 W. Rebecca St. He is youth pastor at the church and has more than 25 years experience in youth work. He is the founding pastor of Second Shift Community Fellowship in Columbiana. Bartholomew and his wife Cindy and two children live in Lisbon.

Choir’s anniversary

CAMPBELL — The adult choir of Greater Liberty Baptist Church, 66 10th St., will mark its 62nd anniversary during a program at 4 p.m. Sunday. Various groups and choirs will participate.

Events for men

AUSTINGTOWN — Solid Rock Interdenominational Church, 3507 Canfield Road, will have a men’s luncheon and workshop, “Men in Worship,” from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 9. Outreach day

YOUNGSTOWN — The Missionary Society of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2944 Wardle Ave., will have a community outreach day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Featured will be the Living Word, food, music and testimonies.

Church anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN — Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 328 S. Forest St., will mark it 58th anniversary with two programs. The Rev. Nat DuBois, pastor of Lilly Grove Baptist Church, will speak at 3:30 p.m. Sunday and the Rev. Mary Austin, pastor of Greater Calvary Baptist Church, at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 3.

Neighborhood outreach

YOUNGSTOWN — New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., will conduct its annual door-to-door neighborhood outreach at 2 p.m. Aug. 3. The outreach area is from Evergreen to Indianola avenues and from Market Street to Glenwood Avenue. A prayer walk will be at 10 a.m. today.
