Saturday, January 26, 2008

HOWLAND — A 22-year-old Cortland man was dead at the scene of a 3 a.m. Saturday single-vehicle accident on Henn-Hyde Road in Howland Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Southington Post reported that Steven D. Pettigrew died after he drove off the right side of the road, striking a fire hydrant and a tree.

Pettigrew was wearing a seatbelt, the patrol said.

Pettigrew’s street address was not available Saturday, nor was any information on the cause of the accident. The investigation is continuing.

Pettigrew crashed the 2003 Ford F-350 truck just north of Warren Sharon Road, a short distance south of two S curves on Henn Hyde.
