Clippers earn Tier One crown

Wellsville stayed in front in the Tier Two race.

COLUMBIANA — Andrew Tirpak scored 16 points Friday as the Columbiana High basketball team defeated Crestview, 67-48, to clinch the Inter Tri-County League Tier One crown.

Ryan Williams scored 15 points, Josh Weikart 11 and Travis Denmeade 10 as the Clippers improved to 14-1, 11-0.

For the Rebels, Jimmy Smith scored 12 points and Brandon Gates 11.

South Range 55, Springfield 53

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Travis Wisler scored 16 points and made three rebounds for the Raiders (6-10, 3-8 ITCL Tier One).

Joe Milhan had 14 points and Jack Dawson seven as the Raiders held off the Tigers’ fourth-quarter rally.

For the Tigers (9-6, 6-5), Todd Kibby scored 14 points and Eric Lipp had 10 and nine rebounds. The Tigers outscored the Raiders, 24-12, in the final quarter.

Mineral Ridge 62, Lisbon 54

LISBON — Nick Miele scored 26 points for the Rams (6-8, 5-6). Also reaching double figures were Cody Graham with 13 and Justin Lasher with 10.

For the Blue Devils (0-16, 0-11), Todd Padurean scored 22 points and Arlan Bailey 20.

McDonald 55, Lowellville 38

Adam Streb scored 14 points to lead three Blue Devils in double figures as McDonald outscored Lowellville 16-4 in the second quarter to gain control in a Tier Two contest.

Lance Ronghi had 13 points and J.R. Harvey had 11 for the Blue Devils (12-3, 8-3).

Zach Matisi scored 11 points to lead the Rockets (3-12, 3-8).

Wellsville 57, Southern 40

SALINEVILLE — The Tigers, who lead the ITCL Tier Two with a 10-1 record, improved to 15-1 overall. Wellsville, behind 13-8 after the first quarter, bounced back to lead 27-18 at intermission and put the contest out of reach 46-26 at the end of the third period.

Zane Carter sparked Wellsville with 19 points. Taylor Baker led the Indians (10-6, 5-6) with 13 points.

Leetonia 53, Western Reserve 51

BERLIN CENTER — Kaid Todd connected on three foul shots for the winning points with 13 seconds remaining in the Tier Two contest. The Blue Devils (7-8, 5-6) had beaten the Bears 58-56 earlier in the season.

The Bears built a 28-23 lead by intermission, then held on for the victory. Andrew Trummer paced Leetonia with 15 points. Jake Kruegel added nine. Justin Lude led the Blue Devils with 17 points. Nate Lude chipped in with nine.

Sebring 85, Jackson-Milton 55

SEBRING — The Trojans rushed out to a 21-10 lead in the first quarter and they were ahead 45-25 at halftime.

Brett Mitzel and Devin Weekly sparked the Trojans (11-5, 8-3 ITCL Tier Two) with 30 and 17 points respectively. Justin Wade added 12 and Zach Tieche had 11. Mitzel and Tieche each pulled down 10 rebounds. Allan Jurica had eight assists.

Ben Carlile led the Bluejays (0-17, 0-11) with 20 points. Jeff Balent chipped in with 16.
