Accused of murder, man to take lie test

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

YOUNGSTOWN — Court action on murder, attempted murder and felonious assault charges against an East Side man has been postponed while he takes a polygraph examination.

A hearing has been set for 8:45 a.m. March 14 to review results of the lie detector test that will be given to Charles Jones, 30, of Lincoln Park Drive.

Jones, who had been scheduled to go to trial Tuesday, is charged with murder in the Oct. 30, 2006, shooting death of Waddell L. Casey, 29, of Stewart Avenue, who was found shot in the head on a couch in his living room.

Jones is also charged with attempted murder and felonious assault in the wounding of Michael Faiola, 22, of Lynn Avenue, on the same day. Each count carries a firearm specification.

The case is before Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

The polygraph is being administered at the request of the defense, which is paying for the polygraph, but both the prosecution and the defense said they would consider a resolution of the case based on the test results.
