Schiffauer keys Boardman to 82-45 win

The Spartans advanced to a district semifinal against North Canton Hoover.

ALLIANCE — Courtney Schiffauer went on a 34-point scoring spree and she pulled down 14 rebounds, leading Boardman High to a 82-45 victory over Canton GlenOak Saturday in a Division I sectional tournament basketball game at Alliance High School.

The Spartans (15-7) put the game out of reach 55-23 by intermission.

Monica Touvelle and Doriyon Glass chipped in with 14 points apiece. Katie Fiffick had nine assists and seven steals.

Sarah Monnot led GlenOak (5-15) with 14 points.

The Spartans will play North Canton Hoover Thursday in a district semifinal game at 6 p.m. at Alliance.

Hoover 77, Chaney 20

ALLIANCE — Brittany Orban scored 25 points and Kyle Baumgartner added 12 for the Vikings (20-2), who defeated Boardman twice earlier this season.

Chaney (7-14) was led by Whitli Sanders with six points. The Cowgirls trailed 22-6 after the first quarter and 49-14 at halftime.

Brookfield 78,
Richmond Heights 72

ASHTABULA — The Warriors (20-2), behind 56-53 at the end of the third quarter, outscored Richmond Heights 25-16 in the fourth period for the victory.

Morgan Bonekovich sparked the Warriors with 38 points and she grabbed 12 rebounds. Lauren Gentile added 16 points and Kelly Jones had nine assists.

Co Co Williams and Damesha Tomlinson led Richmond Heights with 19 and 17 points, respectively.

Maplewood 43, Wickliffe 16

ASHTABULA — The Maplewood High girls kept their unbeaten streak (22-0) alive in cruising to the Div. III sectional tournament victory at Lakeside High’s gymnasium.

Leah Dean and Kristen Schwartz paced the Rockets with 12 and 11 points respectively. Sara Luthardt and Morgan Cain each scored six points for Wickliffe.
