Eight-school wrestling meet is today at Canfield

CANFIELD — Canfield High School will host an eight team round-robin wrestling tournament today in the Cardinals’ gymnasium.

Five rounds of competition will begin at 9 a.m., with the finals set for 3:45 p.m.

Schools entered are Conneaut, Hubbard, Revere, Rootstown, Southeast, South Range, Tallmadge and Canfield.

Competing will be Revere’s Mike Scavuzzo, 125 pounds, and Tim Bihn, 145. Others participating are: Rootstown’s Tyler Williams, 189; Brett Snyder, 135; and Garrett Linton, 171.

Southeast, with one of the states perennial powerhouses will compete with Chris Hylton, Nathan Nelson, Shelton Morris, Nathan Boston, Joe Bennett, Anthony Pennington, Jesse Fetty, Jesse Crawford and Joe Howes.

Tallmadge, a strong contender, has Corey Wheeler, 103; Andrew Brown, 125; Kenny Barker, 125; Alex Bratnick, 140; John Swigart, 285; and returning state qualifier Nick Thompson, 215.

Canfield has: Aron Brenner, 160; Dylan Frost, 119; Alex Benedict, 112; Robby Reed, 125; Cody Hartman, 189; and Mark Douglas and Robert Gleichert, 285.

All-day admission costs $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for students.
