Subway robbed; sales receipts not deposited

YOUNGSTOWN — Just hours after the Subway sandwich shop on West Rayen Avenue on the North Side was robbed by a gunman Tuesday, a part-owner of the business filed a second police report that indicates $48,000 in sales receipts have not been deposited since January. Capt. Kenneth Centorame, chief of detectives, said Wednesday that the theft is under investigation, as is the robbery.

The robber entered the business late Tuesday morning, walked behind the counter and forced open the cash drawer and took its contents. As he left, he pulled a handgun from his waist and brandished it briefly. The robber was not found after an extensive search of the area by police.
