Aug. 22

Vandalism: A worker with Cinema South Inc., 7420 South Ave., reported four wall-mounted movie poster display boxes were damaged and two posters were missing. Damage came to $600.

Citation: A Boardman man, 20, was cited after police said he was found nearly passed out at the Southern Park Mall.

Felonious assault: Police, with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, arrested a 54-year-old Salem woman on a warrant after she was accused in a four-month pattern of abuse against her husband, of Boardman, who alleged she struck him in the mouth with a hammer, burned him with a curling iron and threw boiling water down his back. A family member of the man found burn marks on his back, the report said.

Bad check: A man in his mid-40s passed a $500 bad check at Preston Auto Group Inc., 260 Boardman-Poland Road.

Assault: A Poland man, 18, was taken into custody on an assault charge. An Appleridge Circle man alleged the teen was one of two people to yell profanities, get out of a vehicle and punch the accuser and a friend several times.

Arrest: Police booked a 24-year-old Boardman man at the Mahoning County Jail. He faced two felony counts of receiving stolen property and one felony charge of criminal trespassing.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Midlothian Boulevard led to the arrest of a 36-year-old Youngstown man on a felony charge of drug abuse (crack cocaine) when, police said, they found in the car two small bags of suspected crack.

Assault: A Boardman man in the 500 block of Boardman-Canfield Road reported having been pushed into a door that was slammed on him, injuring one of his toes.

Breaking and entering: Someone kicked in the rear basement door to a vacant residence in the 8500 block of Southern Boulevard and removed a washing machine and dryer.

Burglary/fraud: An elderly Mayflower Drive woman retuned to discover someone had entered her home. She later accused a family member of forging her signature, writing 22 checks and cashing them for a total of $6,650.

Theft: A woman’s cell phone was taken from her car as she patronized a Boardman-Poland Road eatery.

Burglary: A Melbourne Avenue woman found out someone entered her home via a rear window, ransacked a bedroom and took four boxes of checks.

Assault: An employee with a Market Street restaurant alleged a co-worker repeatedly punched her in the head and spit on her during an argument. The woman sought medical attention for a large bruise and lump on her forehead.

Auto theft: An Afton Avenue man reported his 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix stolen from his home.

Theft/criminal damaging: A St. Paul, Minn., woman staying at a Tiffany Boulevard motel told officers someone broke into her vehicle and stole a compact disc and money.

Theft: A 27-year-old Boardman woman faced a charge after being accused of stealing $190 worth of children’s clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Two Youngstown women, 28 and 37, were charged after $35 worth of jewelry was stolen from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive. One of the women also was wanted on a warrant.

Domestic violence: A 24-year-old man was arrested at his Lockwood Boulevard residence and charged after his girlfriend called 911 alleging the man had punched her and that she was bleeding. The accuser had a cut on the palm of her hand, the report said.

Criminal mischief: A woman in the 4900 block of Erie Street saw that someone had written an obscenity on her vehicle’s hood.

Theft/criminal damaging: A Belding, Mich., woman staying at a Tiffany Boulevard motel discovered her car had been entered. Among the property stolen were 60 CDs, golf clubs and equipment, amplifiers and speakers.

Theft: A Cook Avenue woman reported a change purse stolen.

Aug. 24

Theft: Two 19-year-old Poland women were charged after $51 worth of makeup and mascara were stolen from Wal-Mart.

Theft: A Boardman man, 41, and a Youngstown woman, 45, were accused in the theft of $274 worth of merchandise from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall. The woman also was wanted on a warrant from Austintown charging her with a probation violation.

Auto theft: A man left a Boardman-Poland Road store to discover his 1996 Buick Century missing.

Theft/vandalism: An employee with a Southern Park Mall store reported money missing and a lock to a drawer damaged.

Auto theft: A Poland woman’s 1996 Olds Cutlass Ciera was stolen at the Southern Park Mall.

Burglary: A digital camera and a laptop computer were stolen after someone broke into a residence in the 5200 block of Glenwood Avenue through a side door.

Criminal damaging: A window was damaged at a home in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court.

Theft: A license plate was stolen off a vehicle in the 3400 block of Baymar Drive.

Theft: A 27-year-old Boardman man accused of being intoxicated in public and eating without having paid for a container of sour cream at a Boardman-Canfield Road store, was charged with theft and disorderly conduct.

Aug. 25

Domestic violence: A 48-year-old Huntington Drive man was charged after his wife alleged he grabbed and held her down on two occasions during an argument. The accuser had soreness to both arms.

Criminal damaging: Someone at the Southern Park Mall broke a vehicle’s driver’s-side window and kicked the car several times.

Theft: A North Jackson woman, 19, was taken into custody on a warrant after being pulled over on Southern Boulevard.

Recovered property: Police found in the 1100 block of Boardman-Poland Road a 1992 Oldsmobile van that had been stolen in Niles.
