CANFIELD

Aug. 17

Underage alcohol: Austintown police will charge two 17-year-old boys, one from North Jackson and one from Youngstown, with underage consumption after they were found with alcohol during a traffic stop on New Road at state Route 11.

Breaking and entering: City police assisted the Mahoning County sheriff in a breaking and entering call at Linden Place.

Aug. 18

Drug abuse: Police arrested a 23-year-old Youngstown man on charges of drug abuse after they found marijuana on him at West Main Street and Cardinal Drive.

Aug. 19

Fraudulent check scheme: A Moreland Drive woman told police she was sent a check for $4,700 from Universal Alternatives Inc., Clintonville, Ill., and told to cash the check and send back $2,900 to the “claims affiliate office” for fees. She did not cash the check.

Aug. 18

Theft: A power saw was stolen from a home in the 3000 block of LeHarps Road.

Breaking and entering: Several items were taken from Dragon Scale Racing, 1739 S. Raccoon Road.

Menacing: A female was threatened by her neighbor at a home in the 400 block of Woodmere Drive.

Theft: An AM-FM compact disc in-dash player was stolen along with CD’s from a car parked at apartments in the 100 block of Compass West.

Telecommunications harassment: An unknown caller was making calls to an apartment in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Theft: A purse was stolen from an auto at a home in the 200 block of South Edgehill Ave.

Theft: A purse and its contents were stolen from a vehicle at a home in the 100 block of Parkgate Avenue.

Theft: An in-dash stereo and compact discs were stolen from apartments in the 900 block of Compass West apartments.

Theft: A door lock was pulled on an auto at an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West.

Theft: A JVC AM-FM CD alarm payer was stolen from an auto in the 100 block of Compass West apartments.

Telecommunications harassment: Unwanted calls were reported at a home in the 100 block of North Navarre Avenue.

Theft: A man was arrested for theft at Giant Eagle, 5220 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A GPS system was stolen from a vehicle at Bill’s Place, 4771 Mahoning Ave.

Animal cruelty: A dog was sprayed with paint at a home in the 300 block of Burkey Road.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle fender was scratched at Austintown Fitch High School, 4560 Falcon Drive.

Attempted breaking and entering: Thieves attempted to break into W.R.T.K., 5380 W. Webb Road, by attempting to remove plywood from a window opening.

Auto theft: A blue 1993 Cutlass was stolen from a home in the 400 block of South Raccoon Road.

Criminal damaging: A front passenger door on a vehicle was damaged at Four Seasons Apartments, 4222 New Road.

Theft: A bicycle was stolen from a home in the 400 block of Southward Drive.

Fraud: An altered check for $790.87 was cashed at Associated School Employees Credit, 1690 Canfield-Niles Road.

Vandalism: A brick was thrown through a window at a home in the 200 block of South Roanoke Avenue.

Aug. 20

Theft: A 48-foot flatbed trailer was stolen at Fyda Trucking, 5260 Seventy-Six Drive.

Theft: Clothing, gifts and compact discs were stolen from Best Western, 870 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Theft: Compact discs, and a six-speed girls bicycle were stolen from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Burgett Road.

Theft: Compact discs, a laptop computer and a cell phone charger were stolen from vehicles at a home in the 4000 block of Burgett Road.

Theft: A golf bag and clubs and gold items were stolen from a car at the Hampton Inn, 880 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Theft: A catalytic converter was cut from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Oakwood Avenue.

Menacing: A former employee made threats at Black Heart Tattoo, 5600 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: A male is a suspect in a burglary at a home in the 3000 block of New Road.

Theft: A woman was placed in county jail for theft at Home Depot, 6100 Mahoning Ave.

Fraud: An altered check for $788.90 was cashed at Associated School Employees Credit.

Burglary: DVDs were taken from a home in the 200 block of Sprucewood Drive.

Theft: Three televisions were taken from Pilot Oil, 150 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Aug. 21

Theft: A man’s wallet and a cell phone were stolen from a vehicle at Pilot Oil.

Theft: An Armstrong PVC box was stolen from a home in the 400 block of Forest Hill Road.

Theft: Personal checks and credit cards were stolen from an apartment in the 400 block of Westchester Drive.

Aug. 22

Criminal damaging: A man was placed in Mahoning County jail after breaking a window at Davis Elementary School, 4302 Maple Drive.

Criminal damaging: A man is suspected of damaging at a home in the 4000 block of Nottingham Avenue.

Theft: Checks were stolen and cashed at a home in the 5000 block of Callaway Circle.

Drug offense: A Struthers man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and two prescription drugs at state Route 46 and Interstate 80.

Theft: A man was issued a summons for theft at Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A purse with an Ohio license, a checkbook and credit card were stolen from a vehicle at Sheer Performance Salon, 108 Javit Court.

Breaking and entering: Numerous tools were found to be missing at a home in the 70 block of South Turner Road.

Aug. 23

Drug offense: A Youngstown man was arrested on charges of marijuana possession at an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West.

Theft: A 26-inch bicycle was stolen from a home in the 90 block of North Navarre Avenue.

Theft: An auto storage shelf was stolen from a home in the 400 block of Belle Avenue.

Menacing: Verbal threats were made by a female at a home in the 3000 block of Huntmere Avenue.

Aug. 24

Fraud: A victim of an Internet scam deposited a check for $3,600, which was sent by Western Union from Nigeria in the 10 block of Peggy Lane. The check bounced and the woman was charged overdraft fees by her bank.

Theft: Three black females fled in a maroon Pontiac after a theft of $345 worth of clothing at Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: $30 in cash, an ATM card, an Ohio license and two prescriptions were stolen at Austintown Fitch High School.

Telecommunications harassment: Unwanted phone calls were reported at a home in the 30 block of Atlanta Drive.

Theft: $49 in fuel was stolen from BP Unimart, 890 N. Niles-Canfield Road.

Theft: Two men were apprehended for theft at Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Ave. One adult was charged and charges were pending on a juvenile.
