STAFF REPORT

YOUNGSTOWN — Mayor Mike Lyons of Richfield and Mayor Jay Williams will lead a panel on regional cooperation at 7 p.m. Monday at Universal Cafe’s Arts Lecture Series, 1105 Elm St.

The panel also will include Dan Mamula, coordinator of the Mahoning River Corridor of Opportunity and former mayor of Struthers, and Arnold Clebone, regional economic development director for the Ohio Department of Development.

They will talk about the challenges and hopes of regional cooperation.

The discussion will cover a proposal to develop a comprehensive, collaborative, sustainable, nonpartisan 16-county regional economic development program based on smart regional land-use planning and new growth tax-base revenue sharing.

It also will address the first steps of the eight cities along the Mahoning River to cooperate to spur development along the 31 miles of the river, from Newton Falls to Lowellville.

The panel moderator will be Sarah Lown, Youngstown’s development incentive director.
