CANFIELD — The board of education handled some routine back-to-school agenda items.

Wednesday night’s meeting focused mainly on the hiring of several new tutors and a teacher for the school district.

The board hired Jeanne Bloomster as a tutor at Hilltop Elementary at $18.89 per hour. Dana Lariccia was hired as a Canfield Village Middle School tutor at $16.04 per hour.

Julie Webb was transferred from a tutoring position at the middle school to a seventh-grade teacher job. Superintendent Dante Zambrini said because Webb has been with the district for four years, her salary, at $38,557, will be higher than the normal entry-level rate of $32,000 per year.

Several music paraprofessionals also were hired for the band and choir.

The 2008-09 school year begins Sept. 4.
