Both Youngstown Babe Ruth all-star teams earned victories Sunday at their World Series.

At Quincy, Mass., John Sansone’s singled with two outs scored G.J. Senchak from third base in the fourth inning to put the Youngstown 14-year-old all-stars ahead to stay in their 5-1 win over Cambridge, Mass.

To get on base, Senchak had an RBI triple that knocked in Dan Popio to knot the score, 1-1.

Senchak finished with two RBIs in the pool-play game that pushed Youngstown’s record to 2-0 as the Tony Landis-managed team heads into today’s game against Skagett, Wash., at noon.

“We’ve played two good games,” said coach Bob Halicki. “We’re holding our own so far.”

Cody Pitzo had an RBI double in the fifth and Mark Leone a run-scoring double in the sixth.

Senchak was the starting pitcher and winner, with Tony Mehle finishing the final three innings.

Youngstown is off Tuesday before concluding the pool-play portion of the tournament Wednesday against Nederland, Texas.
