Mercer motorcylist injured in Hermitage accident


HERMITAGE, Pa. — A man was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle.

Phillip Cresswell, 23, of Mercer was eastbound on Virginia Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control and left the road, police reported. The accident happened at 4:28 p.m. Saturday.

He drove along the berm of the road and along the edge of lawns for 330 feet, then the motorcycle fell over and tumbled another 112 feet, police said.

Cresswell flew off the bike and tumbled and slid for another 155 feet, police said.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. The hospital said he was in stable condition Sunday.
