Youngstown man nearly drowns at Mosquito Lake

BAZETTA — The Bazetta Township Fire Department reported a near-drowning at Mosquito Lake State Park at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Jorge Morales, 50, of Youngstown was seen waving his arm out by the buoys in lake’s swimming area, said Dennis Lewis, the department’s acting chief. Observers saw a funny look on his face before he yelled and went under the water. Morales was breathing but unconscious when brought out of the water and taken to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

A park officer said Morales was swimming with family and friends, and that a friend and bystanders pulled him to the water's edge before authorities arrived.
