GE CUTS

Trimming jobs

General Electric cuts this year:

73 jobs: The Austintown Products Plant is to close this fall. It makes filaments for incandescent bulbs.

57 jobs: The Niles Glass Plant closed in February. It produced glass for high-intensity lights such as streetlights.

31 jobs: The Ohio Lamp Plant will make cuts in May and June. It makes a variety of incandescent bulbs.

13 jobs: The Mahoning Glass Plant in Niles laid off 13 workers this month. It produces pressed glass for the Ohio Lamp Plant and other factories.
