Salem Community Hospital and Salem Community Centerwill co-sponsor an AARP 55-Alive Driver Safety

Salem Community Hospital and Salem Community Centerwill co-sponsor an AARP 55-Alive Driver Safety Program from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave. The refresher course for drivers over 50 includes adjusting to age-related changes, defensive driving and new traffic laws. The cost is $10; class size is limited. To reserve space, call (330) 332-5885. Some insurance companies offer reduced rates for completion of the course.

Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following activities: Monday, bridge at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting at 10 a.m., computer class at 10 and noon, Spanish review at 1 p.m. and digital club at 2; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10 a.m., computer at 10 and noon, tai chi at noon and 500 cards at 1 p.m.; Thursday, Woodcarvers and Watch Our Weight Club at 9 a.m., exercise at noon and line dancing at 1 p.m.; and Friday, Texas Hold’em at 1 p.m. Also planned on Tuesday is a Youngstown trip to Amish Country. Home Energy Assistance Program applications are available at the center. The center has applications for the SBC telephone discount program of $12.38 per month for eligible applicants.
