Salem sweeps Chaney; E. Palestine wins 2

SALEM — Nick Lesky worked six innings, scattered three hits and struck out five to pick up an 8-0 win for Salem in the first game of a baseball doubleheader Saturday against Chaney.

Dan Fortney hit a double and two singles and drove in three runs. Chip Hank and Lasky each hit two singles.

In the second contest, the Quakers (3-6) had 15 hits and put the contest out of reach with a 7-0 lead in the fourth inning, and went on to a 10-2 victory. Fortney went 3-for-3, scored twice and drove in two runs. David Wright and Shane Kibler each had two hits.

Kevin Boris hit two singles and Victor Cardarelli hit a home run for the Cowboys (3-9).

East Palestine 12-10, Warren JFK 2-4

EAST PALESTINE — A nine-run third inning triggered the attack in the first game of the twin bill. Shane Egresi hit a pair of singles and scored twice. Matt Greene hit a triple and drove in two runs.Dominic Lapollo of the Eagles hit a single and drove in two runs.

In the second game, the Bulldogs fell behind 6-0 in the second inning, but rallied for three runs in each the fifth and sixth inning and then pulled away with a four-run seventh.

Tommy Powers and Taylor Snyder each hit a pair of singles.

Bryan Soldo hit a single and sacrifice fly and finished with three RBIs.
