TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO: As it entered its third month, a strike by service employees at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren became more contentious, with large rallies in support of the strikers becoming weekly events. In this Sept. 30, 1982, photo, police officers in riot gear from Warren, Howland, Niles and the Trumbull Sheriff’s Department block East Market Street to keep a crowd of 500 from marching from the hospital into downtown. An Oct. 13 rally resulted in 14 arrests and a promise by Police Chief Richard Galgozy that anyone breaking a court order against mass picketing would be arrested. The strike ran 20 weeks, ending Dec. 17.
