Scouting report: Grove City lost to Waynesburg last Saturday, 27-23, in the first night game in Grove City College football history. Freshman Chris Haley kicked three field goals against Waynesburg, including a career-long, 49-yard thump. Sophomore Cordario Collier rushed for 135 yards in 28 carries and one TD — his fourth straight game over 100 yards rushing for the Wolverines. Sophomore Josh Schmitz blocked the second punt of his career which led to a safety. Brandon Kohrs, Matt Clark, Andy Poe and Les Colegrove each had 10 tackles. Westminster didn’t play last week after losing the Saturday before to Geneva, 37-14.

Scouting report: Bethany lost its first game of the season last Saturday to Geneva, 28-13. QB Milton Joyner passed for 217 yards and two TDs while Matt Cruse caught six passes for 88 yards and one TD. CB Brandon Zeman had 12 tackles, including nine solo stops. Thiel dropped an 8-6 decision to Thomas More last Saturday. The Tomcats got their TD on QB Willie Bova’s 12-yard pass to senior WR Brett Helman. Bova wound up with 21-for-42 passing for 236 yards. Senior WR John Adams had his best game as a Tomcat with eight catches for 100 yards. Senior WR Marc LaScola had nine catches for 87 yards. Junior LB Sam Swartzfager had 12 tackles.

Scouting report: Geneva defeated Bethany, 28-13, last Saturday in their first meeting since 1983. The Golden Tornadoes compiled 339 yards rushing, led by freshman RB Matt Dean who had the first 100-yard rushing game of his career.

Scouting report: Mount Union cruised past Muskingum last Saturday, 62-0, as QB Greg Micheli set a personal-best record of throwing for four TDs. He also rushed for a score for the first five-TD performance of his career. WR Pierre Garcon also had a career-best three receiving TDs for the 14th multi-TD game of his career. Kicker Mike Zimmerman set an NCAA Div. III record for career points by a kicker with 277.

Scouting report:  Hiram and Oberlin will be in their 50th meeting. The Terriers enter the game 0-3 following a 54-14 loss against Manchester (Ind.) College last Saturday. The Yeomen also are seeking their first win of the season after a 56-26 loss to Washington & Jefferson last Saturday to fall to 0-3 overall.

Scouting report: Malone College exploded for 34 first half points and rolled to a 41-21 victory over Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University last Saturday. RB Bernard Payton rushed for 97 yards on 16 carries and two TDs, and hauled in five passes for 84 yards. QB Billy Bob Orsagh connected on 15 of 29 passes for 276 yards and one TD. WR Derek Deardorff caught five passes for 129 yards with one TD. On defense, DL Ronell Lee had 10 tackles, one forced fumble and a blocked punt.

St. Xavier (4-0, 0-0 MSFA Mideast)

Scouting report: NAIA No. 12-ranked Walsh is coming off a 21-7 win at Quincy last Saturday. The Cavaliers were led by QB Marc Pullen who passed for 229 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman RB Clinton Blossomgame rushed for 166 yards. Walsh also had three interceptions, including one by senior Joe Phinisee of Warren Harding. Blossomgame leads the MSFA in rushing with 122.2 yards per game. He has compiled 489 yards and scored three touchdowns. St. Xavier, ranked No. 3 in the NAIA, won its fourth straight game, 41-3, over Trinity International last Saturday. QB Billy Yeo completed 32 passes for 299 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for two TDs.  Yeo hit Jim Doherty with nine passes for 160 yards and a touchdown.

vs. Allegheny (2-1, 0-0 NCAC)

Series history: Allegheny leads, 18-3.
Scouting report: Allegheny outlasted Carnegie Mellon last Saturday, 24-21, while Denison rolled over Gallaudet, 42-0. Allegheny was helped by Carnegie Mellon’s five second-half turnovers, after the teams had battled to a 14-14 halftime tie. QB T.J. Salopek passed for a career-high 197 yards on 17-for-30 for the Gators, while wideout Jim Leib had seven catches for 100 yards. On defense, S Andy Toner made a career-high 20 tackles.

vs. Slippery Rock (4-0, 0-0 PSAC West)

Scouting report: Slippery Rock is coming off a 45-9 win over Kutztown. RB Corey Manfull (United) has rushed for career-high yards in each of the first four games this season. Manfull leads the PSAC in rushing with 156 yards per game. He ranks No. 7 in NCAA Division II. QB Nate Crookshank, a four-year starter, ranks No. 4 in passing efficiency in NCAA Div. II with 184.4. Slippery Rock’s defense allows just 11.2 points per game to rank No. 2 in the PSAC and 272.5 yards of offense which rank No. 3 in the PSAC). IUP is coming off a 45-0 win over Millersville. IUP's offense is the league's best scoring unit at 54.3 points per game and ranked No. 1 in Div. II.
