Scouting report: Mount Union rolled to a 58-14 win over Otterbein last week, while Muskingum dropped a 27-9 decision to Ohio Northern. Mount Union is ranked No. 1 in the nation on D3Football.com with all 25 first-place votes. RB Nate Kmic moved into second place on Mount Union’s career rushing yards list with 3,887 yards by churning out 126 yards against Otterbein. Kmic needs only 152 yards against Muskingum to surpass the school record of 4,012 yards held by Dan Pugh (1999-2002). WR Pierre Garcon has 33 career TD receptions and needs seven to tie the school and OAC records (40). Garcon also ranks No. 3 in all-time receptions at the school with 135 — 62 behind Adam Marino’s school-record 197.

Scouting report: Hiram lost to Allegheny College last week, 20-7, while Manchester is coming off a 27-14 win over Earlham to snap a 10-game losing streak dating to 2006. Steven Hammond scored Hiram’s only TD on a 9-yard run after setting up the tally on a 66-yard run and scoring on the next play. QB Trevor Henderson of the Terriers completed 16 of 28 passes for 122 yards and one interception in the end zone that foiled a scoring drive.

Scouting report: Thomas More lost to Grove City last week, 23-16, while Thiel topped Albion, 13-10. Junior RB Dan Hess rushed for 166 yards and two TDs in a career-high 25 carries in Thiel’s win over Albion. The Tomcats’ defense had seven sacks, led by senior DR Chris Lorber with three among his six tackles that included three for losses. Senior MLB Michael Stimac led the Thiel defense in tackles with 12.

BETHANY (2-0) vs. GENEVA (2-1)

Scouting report: Bethany routed St. Vincent, 66-7, last week while Geneva thumped Westminster, 37-14. Matt Blumer, Bethany’s junior K-QB, was a perfect 9-for-9 in extra-point kicking and also made a field goal of 31 yards to spark the Bison’s win over Saint Vincent. He also ran 7 yards to a touchdown.

WAYNESBURG (2-0, 0-0 PAC)
vs. GROVE CITY (1-2, 1-0 PAC)

Series history: Waynesburg leads, 24-15-4.

Scouting report: Waynesburg was idle last week while Grove City topped Thomas More, 23-16. Mike Baker, Grove City’s junior CB, was named PAC Defensive Player of the Week in the win. Baker had two end-zone interceptions, including one to seal the win on a third-and-goal situation with 1:22 left. Baker also had six tackles, with five solo stops, and a fumble recovery to set up Grove City’s final scoring drive.

ALLEGHENY (1-1)
vs. CARNEGIE MELLON 2-1)

Game time: 7 p.m. at Gesling Stadium, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Scouting report: Allegheny won last week over Hiram, 20-7, while Carnegie Mellon lost to Hobart, 27-26, breaking its 12-game regular-season losing streak. Devon Raynor and Rodney Still each rushed for 81 yards while Raynor also scored a TD to lead Allegheny. QB T.J. Slopek was 11-for-18 passing for 113 yards, including four aerials caught by Jim Lieb. Lieb also had a 60-yard kickoff return to set up Raynor’s score. Josh Whiteside kicked two FGs from 30 and 25 yards. Mateo Villa led the defense with 14 tackles.

KUTZTOWN (2-1)
vs. SLIPPERY ROCK (3-0)

Series history: Slippery Rock leads, 5-0.

Scouting report: Slippery Rock rolled over Bowie State, 35-7, while Kutztown defeated Shippensburg, 28-16, in its home opener. QB Nate Crookshank threw for 163 yards and four touchdowns to lead Slippery Rock’s win, while junior RB Corey Manfull (United) rushed for a career-high 159 yards and one TD. The Rock registered 35 unanswered points to erase a 7-0 deficit for its first 3-0 season start since 1991. DT Clint Forsha led the defense with seven tackles, including two sacks.

WALSH (2-1)
vs. QUINCY (2-1)

Scouting report: NAIA No. 17-ranked Walsh swept past Trinity International last week, 43-14. Quincy beat Culver-Stockton, 28-25, to climb three spots in the NAIA poll to No. 31. Tailback Clinton Blossomgame and QB Mark Pulled led Walsh to 511 yards of total offense against Trinity. Blossomgame rushed for more than 100 yards for the second straight week, totaling 135 yards with a 1-yard TD, while Pullen passed for 209 yards on 11-for-21 passes with two TDs, including TD strikes to Rob Lash (33 yards) and Mike McGill (19). Lash led the Cavs with four catches for 125 yards.

OLIVET NAZARENE (0-2, 0-0 MSFA Midwest)

Scouting report: Olivet Nazarene is coming off a 41-14 loss to NAIA No. 3 Saint Xavier (Ill.) last Saturday, while Malone emerged with a home-opening 55-21 win over Union (Ky.) Junior DL Jon Roden (Girard) had Malone’s final TD when he raced 12 yards with a pass interception. QB Billy Bob Orsagh completed 22 of 28 passes for 294 yards and four touchdowns for the Pioneers. His teammate and counterpart, QB Dom Liberati, hit on 9 of 14 throws for 68 yards and one score. The two QBs combined to tie a school record with five touchdown passes. RB Bernard Payton caught four passes for 38 yards and one TD. He also rushed for a TD. WR Derek Deardorff had a team-high seven receptions for 85 yards, including two TD grabs.
