Robber gets four-year prison term

YOUNGSTOWN — An 18-year-old man who pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court imposed the sentence Tuesday on Willie Lee Glenn Jr. of West Boston Avenue. Christina Haselbergerm, an assistant county prosecutor, said she would not oppose judicial release (shock probation) for Glenn after he serves one year.

Glenn and Sherman C. Moore Jr., 18, of Idlewood Avenue, were indicted on charges of using a pellet gun to take $2,400 and a car on April 3 from three men police reports said they met for a basketball game on Trotwood Drive in Boardman.

Judge Krichbaum was scheduled to sentence Moore, who also pleaded guilty to two aggravated-robbery counts, at 11 a.m. today. The prosecution dropped a third aggravated robbery count against each defendant and recommended that each serve four years in prison.

“I don’t often send people to the penitentiary for aggravated robbery for just four years. That’s a big-time offense,” the judge told Glenn. Glenn apologized for his conduct.

The judge said Glenn appeared to be genuinely remorseful, observed that nobody was hurt and said that Glenn had no prior criminal record. Judge Krichbaum then accepted the prosecutor’s recommendation.
