New Lions Club chartered in Salineville
SALINEVILLE — A new Lions Club, Salineville Southern Lions Club, was chartered on Oct. 13 during a meeting held at the Kiwanis Hall. The club will be part of District 13-D, which includes more than 60 Lions, Leos and Lioness clubs in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Portage and Stark counties.
Dave Berta, a Salineville councilman, who lives in Salineville with his wife, Kelly, and daughter, Madison, was installed as president of the new group. Inducted as his associate officers were Harry Duncan, first vice president; Anna Earich, second vice president; George Donalds, secretary; Wayne Leishman, treasurer; Jim Howdrshelt, membership; Bill Johnson, Lion tamer and tail twister; Rose Earich and Mark Wood, two-year directors; and Kelli Berta and Pam Yeager, one-year directors. Serving as guiding Lions will be John and Diane Murphy of East Liverpool Lions.
The installation was conducted by Past District Governor Paul Metrovich of Calcutta Lions Club, and 27 new members were inducted by District Governor Carl Leonhardt of Massillon Lions Club. The keynote speaker was past International Director Fred Cole of Wheeling, W.Va., and Deputy District Governor Don Heldman of East Liverpool Lions Club was master of ceremonies.
