Slovak Club closed for lack of license

CAMPBELL — City police have shut down the American Slovak Club, 517 Tenney Ave., for operating without a liquor license.

Police investigated Tuesday after receiving an anonymous complaint. Club staff could not produce a valid Ohio liquor license, according to a sergeant’s report.

Ohio Department of Liquor Control officials said the club’s attempt to renew its license in February had been blocked by the attorney general’s office because of tax delinquency. The club’s window for appeal expired May 15. At that time, the license became void, according to liquor control.

Campbell police have not made any arrests or filed any charges in the case, said Chief Gus Sarigianopolous. Police have ordered that the club’s doors remain locked until it can produce a valid license.
