A look at versions of abortion ultrasound bills being considered by various state legislatures and at the federal level:
FEDERAL VERSION
Nickname: Ultrasound Informed Consent Act
Requires: Abortion doctors to perform an ultrasound, and to display the ultrasound images so that the woman seeking the abortion has an opportunity to view them.
STATE-LEVEL VERSION
Nickname: Women’s Right to Know Act
Requires: Doctor who performs ultrasound examination before or during an abortion to 1) provide the woman the opportunity to view the active ultrasound image of the embryo or fetus, and 2) offer to provide the woman with a picture of the ultrasound image of the embryo or fetus free of charge.
