Regional Chamber seeks action on regionalism

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

YOUNGSTOWN — There’s been plenty of talk for years about regionalization in the Mahoning Valley, with very little action.

There will be even more talk Friday about the subject at the Regional Chamber’s Regionalization Summit, and the organization wants to gear the discussion in the direction of taking action.

“We have had 30 years of stagnation,” said Tony Paglia, the chamber’s vice president for government affairs. “...Let’s stop talking about [regionalization] and start doing it.”

The chamber announced in March ambitious initiatives to consolidate school districts and governments in the Valley; proposals that met criticism and skepticism from some school and government officials.
