“BET Hip-Hop Awards” (8 p.m., BET): The second annual event honoring the best in hip-hop airs from Atlanta, hosted by comedian Katt Williams. T.I. leads with nine nominations, including MVP, best ring tone and lyricist of the year. Other multiple nominees include Lil Wayne with seven and Kanye West with six. Common has five nods and Jay-Z got four. Ludacris and 50 Cent each received three nominations; Diddy and UGK have two each. Artist KRS-One, known for political and socially conscious raps, will be honored with the “I Am Hip Hop” Icon Award.

Criminal Minds” (9 p.m., CBS): On a new episode of “Criminal Minds,” Hotch and the team believe that a pair of suspects may be working together in a series of brutal home invasions taking place in Denver.

“Storm Chasers” (10 p.m., Discovery Channel): Each spring, across 700,000 square miles of mid-American flatlands, changing weather patterns and colliding air masses create a recipe for disaster. It’s also a rite of spring for scientists and storm chasers who flock in hopes of piercing a tornado. Discovery Channel transports viewers to “Tornado Alley” in the new series “Storm Chasers.” It joins research meteorologist Josh Wurman, who, from the turret of his self-designed Tornado Intercept Vehicle (TIV), drives straight into a deadly twister on a perilous sightseeing mission while team leader (and filmmaker) Sean Casey guides the TIV from his mobile command post.
