“The Mysterious Human Heart” (10 p.m., PBS): The heart beats 100,000 times a day, more than 36 million times each year. But despite its natural sturdiness, unforgiving lifestyles of too many of its owners have helped make heart disease the world’s No. 1 killer of men and women alike. (In America alone, approximately 3,000 people per day die from cardiovascular disease.) “The Mysterious Human Heart,” from filmmaker David Grubin, gets to the heart of the matter: how the heart works, what can go wrong with it, and how its ailments can be treated. The three-hour miniseries clears up common heart-related misconceptions while sharing insights into ways to treat, or even prevent, heart disease. The first third airs 10 p.m. Tuesday on PBS (part 2 is Oct. 23 and part 3 is Oct. 30).

“Two Dudes Catering” (10:30 p.m., Food Network): They make up their own rules and recipes, but Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo, self-described renegade chefs, are busy catering to the stars. This unscripted series goes behind the scenes of their Hollywood catering business as they balance the demands of an eclectic clientele with the realities of preparing signature dishes.

“I Wanna Be A Soap Star” (11 p.m., SOAPnet): They came, they emoted and they did their love scenes. Now we’ll finally find out who’s destined for daytime TV glory during the Season 4 finale of “I Wanna Be a Soap Star.” One lucky winner will walk away with a 13-week role on NBC’s “Days of our Lives.”
