Ursuline drove into Marion Local territory before halftime but the drive stalled when Irish quarterback Lamar McQueen threw an interception at the Flyers’ 11.
Halftime thoughts:
Massillon’s P.A. announcer sounds like an announcer on a 1980s video game. It’s warm, sort of grandfatherly and doesn’t quite seem real. If I could get someone to narrate my life, I think I’d want him to do it.
Massillon put in FieldTurf to replace it’s concrete-like 1970s-era AstroTurf. It looks terrific. I know there’s been a lot of talk about moving the state finals to Columbus. I hope it doesn’t happen. For one, I doubt there are two facilities fit to hold them -- Ohio State is way, way, way too big. Two, Stark County does such a good job, there’s no reason to leave.
Does the fact that I’m from Stark County influence my feelings? You bet.
My high school, Uniontown Lake, played three state finals and a state semifinal at Paul Brown Stadium and lost all four. I’ve been tempted on many occasions to burn this place to the ground.
But I wouldn’t. Seriously.
