Friday, November 23, 2007

Celtics 105, Warriors 82

BOSTON — Ray Allen scored 21 points, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett both had double-doubles as Boston took its sixth straight home victory. Boston improved to 9-1 overall and has won its six home games by an average of 22 points. Garnett had 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Pierce added 19 points and 10 boards. Golden State had its three-game winning streak snapped.

Spurs 128, Magic 110

SAN ANTONIO — Tony Parker scored a season-high 32 points, and San Antonio beat Orlando for its third straight victory. The Spurs (10-2) improved their home record to 7-0, while the loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Magic, who had won their first seven road games. Reserve Manu Ginobili had 27 points for the Spurs, while Tim Duncan had 20 points and 16 rebounds.

Pistons 98, Knicks 86

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Chauncey Billups had season highs with 25 points and 15 assists, directing Detroit over slumping New York. New York has lost eight straight, the NBA’s longest losing streak this season and speculation is growing that coach Isiah Thomas’ job may be in jeopardy. Detroit’s Antonio McDyess scored a season-high 20 points after missing three games with strained left shoulder.

Wizards 114, Bobcats 111, OT

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Caron Butler helped make up for the loss of leading scorer Gilbert Arenas at least for a night, scoring 39 points to lead Washington over Charlotte. With the Wizards receiving the jolting news that their star will be out for about three months after Arenas underwent knee surgery earlier in the day, Butler scored seven points in overtime, including two free throws with 15.5 seconds left to give Washington a three-point lead. Antawn Jamison had 27 points and 12 rebounds for Washington, which continued its turnaround from an 0-5 start amid the concern over Arenas’ left knee.

Mavericks 100, Rockets 94

HOUSTON — Devin Harris scored 22 points and converted a key three-point play in the closing minutes, and Dallas rallied from a double-digit deficit for the second straight game. Dirk Nowitzki shook off a slow start to score 18 points and grab 14 rebounds for the Mavericks, who overcame a 24-point deficit to beat Toronto on Tuesday.

Hawks 82, Heat 79

MIAMI — Josh Smith blocked Dwyane Wade’s potentially game-tying layup with 3.9 seconds left, Joe Johnson scored 22 points and Atlanta rallied a 10-point deficit entering the final quarter. It was Atlanta’s first win in its past 18 road games, dating to last season. Naturally, it came in Miami — where the Heat have lost eight straight.

Bucks 110, Lakers 103

MILWAUKEE — Michael Redd scored 26 points and helped hold Kobe Bryant in check as Milwaukee beat Los Angeles for its fourth straight victory. The Bucks held Bryant to a relatively quiet 27 points on 7-of-18 shooting — including only six points as Bryant shot 1-for-5 in the fourth quarter.

Pacers 105, Hornets 93

NEW ORLEANS — Troy Murphy made up for the absence of Jermaine O’Neal with 23 points, leading Indiana over New Orleans. Jamaal Tinsley added 18 points and 13 assists, while Danny Granger scored 22 points and Mike Dunleavy had 18. Greg Foster grabbed 13 rebounds for the Pacers, who have won two of three after dropping seven of their previous eight games.

Raptors 95, Grizzlies 89

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Chris Bosh had 22 points and 19 rebounds, and Toronto overcame a poor shooting performance to beat Memphis. Jason Kapono added 14 points, while Andrea Bargnani and Carlos Delfino scored 13 apiece. Bargnani also had 11 rebounds.

Suns 127, Kings 111

PHOENIX — Shawn Marion and Steve Nash led a 47-point first quarter, and Phoenix beat short-handed Sacramento for its seventh straight victory. Marion, who finished with a season-high 25 points, scored 13 points in the opening period, while Nash, who wound up with 18 points and 15 assists, had 12 points and six assists as the Suns built a 47-38 lead and never relinquished it. Both Marion and Nash hit their first five field goal attempts.

Nets 106, Trail Blazers 101

PORTLAND, Ore. — Jason Kidd had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists, and New Jersey snapped a six-game losing streak. Richard Jefferson scored 30 points for the Nets, who saw the return of Vince Carter after he missed five games with a sprained ankle.Clippers 101, Nuggets 90

LOS ANGELES — Chris Kaman had 21 rebounds and 17 points, and the Los Angeles bench made a significant contribution in a victory that snapped the Nuggets’ six-game winning streak. Reserve forward Quinton Ross had 17 points for the banged-up Clippers, who had lost four of five following a 4-0 start. They started three players who usually come off the bench, including guards Ruben Patterson and Brevin Knight, who played only 14 minutes and left the game in the third quarter with a groin strain.
