Motorist hurt seriously in one-vehicle crash

WARREN – A Warren motorist was badly injured during a violent one-vehicle crash on North River Road.

The driver, Scott Wilson, 43, of Robert Lane, was in critical condition toda in St. Elizabeth Health Center.

City police Sgt. Larry Salvato said Wilson was driving a sport utility vehicle west along North River shortly before 7 p.m. when the vehicle went left of center.

The SUV struck a large tree off the left side of the roadway and split the vehicle in half. The force ejected Wilson’s seat from the vehicle, Salvato said. He was taken by helicopter to the Youngstown hospital.

The crash remains under investigation to determine its cause.
