Soda bottle falls from hand pierced by bullet

YOUNGSTOWN — A shooting victim reported that gunshots from an unknown source forced him to drop his Mountain Dew bottle Monday.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, was walking down Garland Avenue near State Street at 10:45 p.m. when he heard two gun shots. One bullet flew past his head, the other pierced his hand, knocking loose his beverage, police reports said.

The man told police he had no idea who would want to shoot him. He said he saw no car pull away and did not see anyone in the area at the time of the shooting.

He was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
