Canfield opponent
considers litigation
CHARDON — The (Willoughby) News-Herald reported Sunday that officials from Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High may seek a restraining order to keep Canfield’s baseball team from advancing to Friday’s state semifinals.
Friday, Canfield and ND-CL were tied 4-4 in the fourth inning at Hudson when officials discovered that the Lions were using a player not on the 18-man active roster that had been submitted.
ND-CL was ordered to forfeit the game. Saturday, ND-CL athletic director Frank Platzar pleaded his case with the OHSAA to no avail.
Platzar told the News-Herald that the next recourse may be legal action to get a restraining order.
Friday at 10 a.m., Canfield is scheduled to play Sandusky Perkins in a Division II state semifinal game at Cooper Stadium in Columbus.

in high altitude
ZURICH, Switzerland — FIFA has banned international games from being played at high altitudes.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter said the decision to ban games more than 8,200 feet above sea level was made Sunday after a review by the medical team for world soccer’s governing body.
Bolivia has held World Cup qualifiers at an altitude of about 11,810 feet at its capital La Paz. There has been criticism that Bolivia’s advantage is not only unfair, but also dangerous for the players’ health.
