Wharmby rallies for 12-8 win

Astro Falcons and Rondinelli improved to 2-0 with victories.

STRUTHERS — Trailing by four runs, Wharmby Sports scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Action Physical Therapy, 12-8, in the Class B League Sunday at Cene Park.

Tyler Womack and T.J. Stoian had three hits each for Wharmby (1-1). One of Stoian’s hits was a triple, while Mike Nagy and Ben Beetol had doubles. Chris Stewart, the winning pitcher in relief, drove in two runs.

Action (0-2) was led by Nate Reynolds, with three hits, including a triple. Chuck Zimoski and Josh Harkulich had doubles and Karl Swanson had two RBIs.

Astro Falcons 7, Roth Bros. 5

Astro scored five runs in the second inning and held on for its second straight win. Dave DeJacimo, Mike Kelly and Dean Porter had two hits apiece for Astro. DeJacimo hit a triple and Joe Bako added a double and two RBIs. Dean Porter also drove in two runs.

Tim McBride singled three times for Roth, while Zach Jones doubled and singled. Bryan Stotle had two hits.

Rondinelli 16, Yo. Express 4

Cory Nesbitt pitched a complete game and hit a double to lead Rondinelli (2-0). Andy Dobson and Tony Brunetti both homered — Dobson had four RBIs — while Chuck Olesky and Marc Kanetsky had three hits each including a double apiece. Cory McGinnis also had three hits, while Andy Dobson had two. Tyrone Wright and Phil Double also doubled.

Dan Gallagher had two hits for Express (0-2), including a double, and Chad Kobylanski singled twice.

Livi Steel 3, Yo. Express 1

Jordan Tanner scattered six hits and Livi Steel made a three-run rally in the third inning stand up Saturday night.

Adam Lindsey doubled for Youngstown Express and pitcher Anthony Mann allowed just three hits, but seven errors hurt the Express.

Dave Sugar scored seven runs in the fifth inning. Eric Pirtz hit a double to lead the winners. Justin Shaffer was the winner in relief.

Stefan Stelk’s double was among 10 hits for Roth Bros.

R&J Trucking 6,
Action Physical Therapy 3

Mike Popio had two hits, including a double, to lead R & J. Jon Tatarka and Josh Gardner both singled twice while Matt Pitzulo and Dan Kubala each had doubles. Three pitchers combined on a six-hitter. Scott Smith got the win and Eric Francis the save.

Chuck Zimoski and Mike Backes had two hits apiece for Action Physical Therapy.

Wharmby Sports 2

Rondinelli scored 12 runs in the second inning to win easily. Matt Stephens had three hits, including a double, and Cory Nesbitt had three singles for Rondinelli while Cory McGinnis tripled and doubled. Cory Hitt and also doubled while Phil Double singled twice.

Mike Congluse and Marc Babyak had two hits each for Wharmby, including a double apiece.

Astro Falcons 8,
Simon Roofing 5

Mike Kelly singled twice and drove in three runs for Astro. Mike Dota doubled, while Dave DeJacimo hit a pair of singles. Corey Susany earned the win with relief help from DeJacimo and Matt Weir (who picked up a save).

Frank LaRubbio had two singles for Simon.
