Man charged with assault in stabbing

YOUNGSTOWN — Jeffrey J. Stover, 46, of 2134 Concord Ave., was charged with felonious assault Friday afternoon, after a man said he was stabbed in the chest and leg.

Thomas A. Behnke, 55, had been staying with Stover for about six weeks while he was separated from his wife, according to police.

Stover wanted Behnke to move out, and the men got into an argument. Stover showed police his knife and told them, “There was a conflict, and I know I was wrong.”

Behnke was reported in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
