Austintown, firefighters work out pact

AUSTINTOWN — The township has a contract with its firefighters.

Trustees approved the contract at their meeting earlier this month.

The contract will cost the township an additional $230,000 over the three years.

The three-year pact includes a 2-percent, 4-percent and 4-percent wage increase in each year.

The pact also includes a 5-percent, 7.5-percent and 10-percent medical insurance contribution.

The ranks and their rates of pay are as follows:

U Assistant chief, from $55,796 in 2006 to $56,912 in 2007, $59,188 in 2008 and $61,556 in 2009.
