Austintown, firefighters work out pact
AUSTINTOWN — The township has a contract with its firefighters.
Trustees approved the contract at their meeting earlier this month.
The contract will cost the township an additional $230,000 over the three years.
The three-year pact includes a 2-percent, 4-percent and 4-percent wage increase in each year.
The pact also includes a 5-percent, 7.5-percent and 10-percent medical insurance contribution.
The ranks and their rates of pay are as follows:
U Assistant chief, from $55,796 in 2006 to $56,912 in 2007, $59,188 in 2008 and $61,556 in 2009.
U Captain, from $53,152 to 54,215, $56,384 and $58,639.
U Lieutenant, from $46,248 to $47,173, $49,060 and $51,022.
U Firefighter, from $42,384 to $43,232, $44,961 and $46,760.
U Capt./Inspector, from $53,152 to $54,215, $56,384 and $58,639.
U Lt./Inspector, from $46,248 to $47,173, $49,060 and $51,022.
U FF/Inspector, $43,384 to $44,252, $46,022 and $47,863.
A first-year firefighter makes $28,840, and a second-year firefighter makes $32,960. That did not change from the previous contract.
The township has not yet settled contracts with its dispatchers or its road department, said township administrator Mike Dockry.
