Teenager shot in arm on Lucius Avenue

YOUNGSTOWN — A teenager was shot as he was walking on Lucius Avenue to a food market, police report.

The shooting happened at 3:06 p.m. Thursday. The 15-year-old boy, who lives on East Lucius, told police he heard gunfire and felt he’d been hit. He ran to the porch of a house — only to be told to go away, he said.

He ran to another house on the corner of Lucius and Rush, where a woman drove him to Beeghly Emergency Center on Market Street.

He was hit in the arm, and might require surgery to remove the bullet, the police report said. Neighbors who reported hearing gunfire said they didn’t see anything before the shooting but saw a black Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am drive away afterward.
