Last week: Dave Blaney qualified the Caterpillar Toyota in the third spot for the Nextel Open Saturday evening at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and remained in that same spot until late in the event. He finished the event in fourth place.
Season: Last weekend’s race was a non-points event, so Blaney remains in 36th place in the Nextel Cup standings with 730 points. He’s 1,151 behind leader Jeff Gordon, but just 198 behind David Gilliland, who’s in 27th place.
Busch Series: Blaney has 1,353 points for fourth place. He’s 605 points behind leader Carl Edwards but only six behind third-place David Reutimann.
Next races: Blaney will race in the Carquest Auto Parts 300 Saturday night in the Busch Series and in the Coca Cola 600 Sunday in the Nextel Cup.
