A survey found that 37 percent of group tour operators said their customers book their trips 30 to 60 days in advance, and 26 percent of the operators reported their clients book trips three to five months in advance.

Eighty-one percent of group tour travelers use third party information sources, such as books, movie reviews, restaurant guides and magazines, to make vacation decisions.

In a survey of 1,350 leisure group tour travelers, 77 percent said they travel with a spouse or another adult, 31 percent travel with children and 26 percent alone.

Thirty percent of grandmothers have traveled with a grandchild, and 56 percent of minors, ages 6 to 17, want to vacation with grandparents, according to survey research.
