Pavlik's victory party serves a good cause

YOUNGSTOWN — Undefeated middleweight boxer Kelly Pavlik will tend bar this Sunday at his own victory party, and donate all his tips to the Jessica Moorhead Foundation for Hope.

When friends at Club South Health and Fitness Center began planning the celebration, Pavlik had only one request: Let’s use this opportunity to help some other fighters in our Valley — kids who are being treated by the Children's Care Center for Blood and Cancer in Youngstown.

Pavlik hopes fans and community members will join the celebration, to   6 to 8:30 p.m. at Tiffany's Bar and Grille, 7120 Tiffany Blvd. He also plans to autograph boxing gloves and photos during the evening.

The Jessica Moorhead Foundation for Hope is a nonprofit organization that supports the Children’s Care Center for Blood and Cancer in Youngstown. The center provides treatment and other services to children with cancer and chronic blood disorders.

The foundation was established in memory of 16-year-old Jessica Moorhead of Austintown, who fought a four-year battle with leukemia. Jessica’s mother, Jenifer, and the center’s director, Dr. Ayman Saleh, are the co-founders. For more information about the foundation, call (330) 700-0578 or see www.jessicafoundationforhope.org.
