YOUNGSTOWN — Roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed for the YMCA’s Memorial 5, a five-mile road race, from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

They are East Glacier Drive at Orange and High streets and Falls Avenue, and West Glacier Drive at Price Road and Irving Place, including a section of Price Road.

The closed roads are north of Slippery Rock Bridge. Roads south of the bridge will remain open.

Access to Fellows Riverside Gardens will be available from Mahoning Avenue only.

Man, 22, charged

WARREN — A 22-year-old Youngstown man was charged after police reported he threw a chair through a hospital window because he believed he was waiting too long for medical treatment, police said Tuesday.

Geovanny D. Pastrana, of North Jackson Street, was charged Monday with assault and criminal damaging. A hearing was scheduled Tuesday for June 15 in municipal court. He remains in the county jail in lieu of a $3,500 bond.

Police reported being called to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital’s reception area. Pastrana, police were told, had become irate about having to wait for treatment. When female hospital employee told him he had to continue waiting, he went into a rage and threw the chair, smashing the glass in front of the employee.

The report does not say how long Pastrana waited or why he was seeking medical seeking treatment.

One-car crash kills man

MERCER, Pa. — A Franklin, Pa., man was killed in a one-car crash in Mercer County. Pennsylvania State Police said Christopher C. Wentworth, 22, died at the scene of the crash on state Route 965 in Worth Township, about a half-mile from the Venango County line. He was a passenger in a car driven by Misty Flockerzi, 22, also of Franklin.

Police said Flockerzi lost control of the car at 5:58 a.m. Tuesday, after exiting the right side of the road. She attempted to get back on the road and over-steered the vehicle, causing it to spin clockwise. The car left the road and turned over twice, ejecting Wentworth, who was not wearing a seat belt. The car came to rest on its roof in a ditch on the north side of the road.

Flockerzi, who was wearing a seat belt, was extricated by emergency personnel and taken to Grove City Medical Center, where she was treated.

Account for operation

YOUNGSTOWN — An account in Angello Astorga’s name was set up to help with medical expenses related to a bone-marrow transplant for the 15-year-old Youngstown boy.

Angello was diagnosed about three years ago with leukemia and the symptoms have returned after a remission. Donations may be made at any Home Savings and Loan branch.

For more information, call the Rev. John Zuraw of Immaculate Conception Church at (330) 747-3533. A motorcycle blessing was held at the church Sunday to benefit the boy.

Work to shut off water

AUSTINTOWN — Road work will interrupt water service on Virginia Drive. Water will be shut off at 9 a.m. today and will be restored at 4 p.m. People should boil their water for cooking and drinking afterward until further notice.

Fire in vacant building

YOUNGSTOWN — A vacant house at 125 N. Bruce St. was intentionally set on fire around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, the fire department said. Firefighters found the vacant East Side structure engulfed in flames when they arrived. Damage was listed at $8,000 and was considered a total loss.

Memorial Day parade

AUSTINTOWN — Anyone who wishes to participate in the Austintown Memorial Day parade should call Joseph L. McCormick at (330) 544-7909. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Marc’s parking lot on the corner of Mahoning Avenue and Idaho Road. It ends at the Fitch High School Veterans Memorial. There will be a commemorative service at 11 a.m.
