Pavlik on ESPN
this Friday

BRISTOL, Conn. — Youngstown middleweight boxer Kelly Pavlik will be the in-studio guest on ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights” on Friday night.

Hosted by Brian Kenney, Pavlik will discuss his knockout of Edison Miranda last weekend in Memphis.

Pavlik will be accompanied by his father, Mike, and agent Cameron Dunkin.

Corrections

Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini is a former World Boxing Association lightweight champion. He was mistakenly referred to as a middleweight champion in Monday’s story on Kelly Pavlik.

Dominique Bonamase transferred from Canfield High to Ursuline in winter 2006. Monday’s headline said the transfer was in 2004.

Horse show
set June 3

CANFIELD — The Canfield Horsemen’s Association will sponsor a matinee at the Canfield Fairgrounds on June 3 at 1:30 p.m.

Horses participating in the event will be young ones preparing to race or older horses who will be qualifying to race at Northfield or the Meadows.

A matinee is similar to a scrimmage in sports. The event will have free grandstand seating and is open to the public. There will be no pari-mutual betting.

A “Walk Your Way to the Races” program will be kicked off at the event with the program offering free Canfield Fair admissions Sept. 1 or Sept. 3.

To qualify for the program, a card must be picked up at the matinee, then the cardholder has to visit the speed barns at the fairgrounds 20 times between June 3 and Aug. 24 and have the cards signed by a horseman.

The first 12 cards handed into the vendor’s windows at the fairground office on Aug. 24 will receive a free ticket.

This event is sponsored by both the Canfield Fair Board and the Canfield Harness Horsemen’s Association.

Membership to the CHHA costs $10.
