New contract with St. Elizabeth Health Center

YOUNGSTOWN — Pay increases and a reduction in the number of positions that may be subcontracted out are among provisions of a new contract that service workers have with St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Members of Teamsters Local 377, which represents about 800 employees at the hospital, ratified the new three-year work agreement, which is effective Thursday, said Kenneth M. Norris, Local 377 business agent. Norris said he’s satisfied with the agreement, and noted that the union’s bargaining committee unanimously recommended it be approved.

Norris said members will receive a per-hour wage increase of 20 cents in September; 30 cents in May 2008, and 35 cents in May 2009.
