The book “Cities Ranked & Rated” evaluated 373 metropolitan areas in the United States in various categories to rank them from first to worst. The Youngstown-Warren-Boardman area (including Mahoning and Trumbull counties in Ohio and Mercer County in Pennsylvania) ranked 269th, up 22 spots from its ranking of 291 three years ago. Here’s how we did:

Transportation: 47th out of 373

Cost of living: 104th

Crime: 125th

Health and health care: 138th

Arts and culture: 171st

Leisure: 236th

Education: 269th

Climate: 353rd

Income: 354th
