Downtown building slated for fix-up

YOUNGSTOWN — Plans are moving forward for three architects seeking to purchase and renovate a long-vacant Federal Street building.

A committee of the Community Improvement Corp. — the property’s current owner — gave its recommendation to the Sweet Jenny Land Co.’s proposal Tuesday.

The company plans to invest $332,000 in renovating the John R. Davis building, next to the Downtown Draught House. The building has been vacant for more than 20 years, said the committee’s acting president Reid Dulberger.
