CLOSING THE GAP

CLOSING THE GAP

Academic achievement

Ohio wants to close the academic achievement gap between black students and other public school students. The goals for that task are:

• Improve low-income student achievement in the middle and high school.

• Increase the graduation rate of minority and low-income students.

• Improve graduation rates in Ohio’s 75 lowest-performing high schools.

• Increase the number of first-in-family and nontraditional students completing science-, technology-, engineering-, math- and medicine-focused curricula.

• Increase the number of minority and low-income graduates obtaining 21st-century employment skills.

• Increase college enrollment for first-in-family students.
